Artist’s Statement

Even when I started sketching the women on the LPGA tour five summers ago, it seemed that I was beginning a project that would go on for as long as I could walk and see. Ten thousand sketches later, I am compiling a visual archive of Ladies Professional Golf in the twenty-first century.

The players who look at my sketchbooks have inspired me with their enthusiasm for the culture of women’s golf.  I want to add something to that culture, because that’s what art does best.

The Swing One Hundred represents my commitment to expressing the drama of Ladies Professional Golf through lines on paper.  Almost half the Hundred are finished as this 2009 season gets under way, and I am just getting warmed up.
